Copyright & Open Access

Last updated: 9 October 2026

Manuscript ownership, review permissions, publication licences, and responsible reuse.

Ownership of submitted work

Submitting a manuscript does not transfer its copyright to PaperNest. Authors must hold the rights and authorizations needed to submit their work, including permission from co-authors and rights holders for third-party figures, text, datasets, and other materials.

Permissions for review

Submission provides the platform and relevant venue with the permissions needed to store, process, and share the work with authorized participants for assessment and publishing administration. It does not make an unpublished manuscript freely reusable by reviewers or other participants.

Publication agreements

Before publication, the venue may require a publication licence, rights declaration, or copyright agreement. Read and complete the actual agreement presented for your publication. Do not assume that a draft upload, acceptance letter, or proof approval establishes the final public licence.

Open access and reuse

Open access describes reader access; permission to reproduce, modify, or redistribute depends on the licence shown on the published article or proceedings. Follow that licence, provide attribution, and identify changes when required. No single Creative Commons licence is assigned to every PaperNest submission by this page.

Third-party material and identifiers

Third-party material may have separate restrictions even in an open-access article. Check credit lines and permissions before reuse. DOI registration, repository deposits, indexing, and proceedings publication depend on the venue’s enabled arrangements and are not guaranteed merely by using PaperNest.

Copyright complaints

Contact support with the protected work, the allegedly infringing publication or file reference, your relationship to the rights holder, a description of the issue, and a way to contact you. Share only evidence needed to investigate. The responsible venue may need to contact the submitting author or rights holder and preserve the scholarly record while assessing the claim.

Charges and corrections

For fees, see Registration, Fees & Refunds. For corrections or retractions, use Publishing Ethics & Appeals.
