Data Rights & Account Deletion

Last updated: 9 October 2026

How to request access, correction, export, or closure of your PaperNest account.

Manage your profile

Sign in and open your profile to update available personal and professional details. The profile download exports the profile information available in that workspace; it is not a complete export of every manuscript, review, audit record, or conference registration.

Make a request

Email the contact below from your registered address where possible. State whether you need access, correction, export, restriction, objection, or account deletion. Include your name, the relevant journal or conference, and account or submission references. Describe the information involved and your requested outcome. Never send your password, access token, or unnecessary identity documents.

Verification and routing

Support may ask for proportionate verification before releasing or changing personal information. Requests involving a journal, conference, or institution may need to be routed to that organization. Where another person makes a request for you, evidence of their authority may be required. Applicable law and the responsible organization’s procedure determine the response period.

What an export can include

A reviewed response may include account and profile information, your submission metadata and files, registrations, and correspondence you are entitled to receive. It may exclude confidential reviewer identities, editor-only notes, third-party personal information, security-sensitive details, or records you are not authorized to access.

Account closure and deletion

Requesting closure starts a review; sending an email does not immediately delete your account. Support will explain the outcome and any information that must be retained. Published papers, co-authored scholarship, review and decision history, integrity investigations, legal obligations, and necessary security records can limit erasure. Account closure is separate from manuscript withdrawal and removal of published scholarship.

Withdrawal, corrections, and backups

For a pending manuscript, contact the responsible editor or chair about withdrawal. For published research, request a correction or retraction through the venue’s scholarly process. Residual copies in backups may remain until their normal replacement cycle, subject to access restrictions and the applicable retention procedure.

Concerns and escalation

If you disagree with a response, ask support to review it and identify the responsible organization. Where applicable, you may contact your data-protection authority. The Privacy Policy explains purposes, sharing, and retention.
